
Dr. Izu Nwachuwku
Dr. Izu Nwachukwu is a psychiatrist with extensive international education and practice experience. He completed his postgraduate medical training in Europe where he continues to be a Member of Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland. He has a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management from the Institute of Leadership, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Dundee in Scotland, UK.
Dr Nwachukwu is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at University of Calgary. He has extensive research experience and is well published in several reputable international peer-reviewed journals.
As a Consultant Psychiatrist with Alberta Health Services, Dr Nwachukwu currently holds several top leadership positions in Addiction & Mental Health, AHS Calgary Zone. He is the Section Chief for Community Outpatient Programs, the Clinical Medical Director of the Regional Housing Program, a member of the Executive Management Team and a member of the Executive Committee of Department of Psychiatry, University of Calgary.
Dr Nwachukwu has served in various Boards, most recently on the Board of Directors of Potential Place Club House, a not-for-profit organization involved in psychosocial rehabilitation for persons with mental health challenges in the community.
